In August of 2020 I began my new career in healthcare consulting for Strategic Healthcare Partners, LLC as the Deputy Director for the Georgia Association of Community Service Boards, a trade association designed to provide support to all 22 CSBs operating in Georgia. The GACSB Executive Office is located in Villa Rica, Georgia. The GACSB provides support to the CSBs in the form of policy and legislative advocacy through a unified voice on both the state and national levels.

Prior to retirement was assigned to the Sheriff’s Community Outreach Program and Education Division responsible for supervising 15 School Resource Officer’s assigned to 11 various schools and acted as the liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas County School System. My assignment was to act as or accomplish the following:

Acted as the Public Information Officer for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Acted as the liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas County Board of Education on matters of law enforcement, school safety, and security. That included day to day security as well as large scale event planning.

Presented hundreds of hours of education, consultation, and awareness classes to thousands of community members, educators, and first responders on topics including school climate and safety, gangs, illicit narcotics, social media use, active shooter preparation, and bullying.

Advisor and presenter to state and local legislators on matters of illegal narcotics, active shooter violence, as well as school safety and security.
Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sergeant, Criminal Investigations Division 2007 – 2016

Acting supervisor for the school resource program and community drug and gang prevention programs. Responsible for the oversight and safeguarding of 20,000 middle and high school students in 10 different schools through the management of 14 school resource officers and 1 criminal investigator. Responsible for the enforcement of criminal laws inside the school system as well as acted as the liaison from the Sheriff’s Office to the Board of Education for the purpose of improving the safety of the schools and orchestrating a positive learning environment. Responsible for assisting in the development of emergency response plans as well as conducted threat assessments for each of these schools and administrators. Performed research, developed, and implemented numerous new programs responsible for gathering crime intelligence which resulted in the arrest of hundreds of suspects involved in criminal activity on school grounds as well increased school safety while decreasing the number of students involved in disciplinary incidents. Responsible for the assisting with the implementation of several safety measures that keep students and staff safe on a daily basis. Such measures include: photo ID badges for all employees, security cameras in all schools, School Resource Officers in each middle and high school, BLAST (Bringing Life and Skills Together) officers assigned to each elementary school, AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators) located in each school, hand held metal detectors in middle and high schools, identification required for student checkout, requiring all visitors to sign in, and video surveillance on school buses. Developed and presented more than 50 educational power point presentations on topics including: active shooter awareness, illicit and dangerous drug use, gang and bullying awareness, domestic violence awareness and social media use to over 200,000 law enforcement and community members throughout the United States. Acted as an advisor for local, state, and federal employees, legislators, policy makers, and activist on issues such as active shooter awareness, dangerous drug use, gangs, bullying, and the illegal or dangerous use of social media. Qualified in two jurisdictions as an expert on illegal drug issues and illegal gang related activities and have traveled as far as Washington D.C. to speak to various groups about these community issues. Testified in both the Georgia House of Representatives and State Senate on issues revolving around Meth use, manufacturing, and distribution and qualified as an expert in two county Superior Courts. Assisted with the development and implementation of several interactive websites and one smart phone application that are designed to open the line of communication from the community to the Sheriff’s Office, and these media outlets have been viewed by tens of thousands of community members. Through the oversight of these media applications I am responsible for the arrest of criminal violators as well as the seizures of illegal gained property and assets.
Responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of several community outreach initiatives that include the Douglas County Meth Task Force (DCMTF), the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Making a Change Early Program (M.A.C.E.), and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Prescription Medication Take Back Program, and acted as a direct point of contact to the community for these three programs. Responsible for the prevention of Methamphetamine use in the community by educating community members, providing prevention presentations to school aged youth, and provided treatment options to those addicted to the drug. I have personally assisted with the placement of over 300 addicts into various treatment programs which has had a measured decrease on the use of Methamphetamine and other drug use in the community. Assisted many community members throughout the country with the development of their own community based anti-drug initiatives and acted as an advisor to legislators on the issues of drug use in the State of Georgia. Graduated over 400 at risk youth ages 13-17 from the M.A.C.E. program and provided continued services for many of those students and their families, many of which have gone on to complete their high school education and refrain from further law enforcement intervention. I am responsible for the collection and destruction of over one thousand pounds of unwanted or unused dangerous drugs and prescription medications by creating and supervising the Prescription Drug Take Back Program. Provided information and acted as a consultant to reporters and producers whom have developed over 50 national and international news stories and documentaries on topics of drug use and gang involvement, which have been viewed by millions of people throughout the country and world.

Assigned as a Special Investigator for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division tasked with the identification, investigation and successful prosecution of those persons involved in the sales and possession of illegal drugs in and around Douglas County. Posed in a clandestine manner as a drug purchaser and supplier in order to development informants and information on illegal activity and ultimately prosecuted over 250 defendants for various violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. I conducted classified investigations into felony activity including local public corruption, murder for hire, prostitution, and other organized criminal activities as well as developed state and national intelligence which was forwarded to the appropriate agencies. This facilitated a broader collaboration of resources and enforcement efforts which allowed for better prosecution of criminal violators not only in Douglas County but throughout the State of Georgia and United States.
